Summary

Everyone is home for the holidays, clamoring for all the Christmas cheer only their mother can whip up。 They can already smell the chestnuts roasting—or is that Mom’s hair on fire? From a New York Times bestselling author comes a laugh-out-loud short story for any mom who’d rather wreck the halls。

Tyler, Channing, and Sammy Clauster have descended on their childhood home, with significant others and four-year-old twins in tow, for another good old-fashioned Christmas。 Overwhelming holiday magic, as always, comes courtesy of their mom, Claire。 They know she’s thrilled to cook, wrap gifts, decorate, accommodate, play games, overprepare every Christmas Eve Eve Eve tradition, and still let Dad be known as the Fun One。 It’s her thing, right? Maybe the family should have paid closer attention。 Because this year, something is a little off-key—and it’s not just the carols。

A free, short, holiday read sounded perfect for commuting but every one of these characters made me bananas。

This book did nothing for me but it might be your jam。 It’s only about an hour long so if you are interested, give it a try。 My actual rating is 2。5 stars, (rounded up for the fun cover)。 This is an audiobook review。 What didn’t work for me? Mostly the narrator, I think, though I did not find it funny。 I’m kind of an easy mark for humor too。 I mean, I will laugh at just about anything no matter how old the joke。 My friends know, I have an active 5 year old inner child。 I also can be sarcastic an This book did nothing for me but it might be your jam。 It’s only about an hour long so if you are interested, give it a try。 My actual rating is 2。5 stars, (rounded up for the fun cover)。 This is an audiobook review。 What didn’t work for me? If I'm being honest。 This book was just a bit boring。 It was short and I finished it but this book just wasn't for me。 I will say the cover is darling though! A reminder to appreciate your mom。

Maybe I didn't love this because once again Chandler Baker knows how to point out the emotional/mental/physical load of mothers。 While I really enjoyed The Husbands by Chandler Baker, this one missed the mark。 I didn't actually find this one funny。 And again, this may be skewed by my current emotional and overwhelmed state with three children。 Overall, it was a short story。 So it was short。 Very little time investment and that is my silver lining。 Maybe I didn't love this because once again Chandler Baker knows how to point out the emotional/mental/physical load of mothers。 While I really enjoyed The Husbands by Chandler Baker, this one missed the mark。 I didn't actually find this one funny。 And again, this may be skewed by my current emotional and overwhelmed state with three children。 Overall, it was a short story。 So it was short。 Very little time investment and that is my silver lining。 。。。more

This short story was fantastic and highly relatable。 During the holidays, I often feel invisible to my family。 I can sympathize with the main character and her clueless family。

This was grand! A hilarious, easily visualized, laugh out loud, quick holiday story。 Excellently told!

I feel like I've read a similar story line to this book (earlier this year)。。can't remember what it was but I would pass on this one。 I feel like I've read a similar story line to this book (earlier this year)。。can't remember what it was but I would pass on this one。 。。。more

This was fun! Had a feeling similar to In a Holidaze but with a cozy mystery type twist。

This was a super quick read and the first I’ve read by this author。 It was a interesting read about families and how stressful they are during the holidays。 I received this ARC through #netgalley and I am voluntarily reviewing this book

I really enjoyed this short Christmassy story about a mom who's really into Christmas and who does it all until she doesn't! I could see signs of myself in Claire, always feeling like it was up to me to make sure everything went smoothly and that there were lots of presents and treats everywhere you look。 Then along came Covid and there was pretty much no Christmas at all and guess what, the sky didn't fall! So I've promised myself I won't stress over everything this year, just relax and enjoy s I really enjoyed this short Christmassy story about a mom who's really into Christmas and who does it all until she doesn't! How was this a short story and it lasted way too long。 For me I wanted a super sweet holiday romance comedy but this was a let down。 I don't think it brought anything new or creative to the table。 How was this a short story and it lasted way too long。 For me I wanted a super sweet holiday romance comedy but this was a let down。 I don't think it brought anything new or creative to the table。 。。。more

Quite boring。 Halfway through and there really was no point made。

The overall story was good and fun。 You should pay attention to your mom for sure! I was left with a lot of questions though。 Who was narrating the story? It sounded like they were a sibling。 I feel like there should have been a better introduction to what was going on as it was just kind of dropped in the middle, randomly。 Kind of felt like a first draft! I’d definitely recommend it to others just to see what they thought plus it is an overall fun story!

Rebecca

Quick, fun holiday read!

Laura

A short story that was way over the top, not very funny, but I gave it 3 stars as it is about a subject dear to my heart--the under-appreciation of those who provide their families with wonderful holiday memories--usually the mom/grandmom, but not always。 It's a good idea for a full Christmas story, I think。 A short story that was way over the top, not very funny, but I gave it 3 stars as it is about a subject dear to my heart--the under-appreciation of those who provide their families with wonderful holiday memories--usually the mom/grandmom, but not always。 It's a good idea for a full Christmas story, I think。 。。。more

What does Mom really want for Christmas?。 story is written so you get caught up in the crazy family drama。 。 Sometimes we take the one giving this most for granted。 A easy read that will make you happy and sad。

Elyse

This was a short, silly, fun, antic-filled, but also honest Christmas story。 Show appreciation to those who do the work to make your holidays special!
